Tadpole's Plug-In Network Appliance Embedded With Tarantella Software Receives Plaudits From Early Adopter Valence Semiconductor
Valence Semiconductor's Engineers Use Tarantella-by-Tadpole Network Infrastructure Appliance to Securely Run Business Applications From Home, When Travelling, and At Customer Sites
NEW ORLEANS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 10, 2002--
One of the principal exhibits on Tadpole's booth #1960 here at the
39th Design Automation Conference is the firm's new lines of Sun(TM)
Solaris(TM) plug-in network server appliances.
Built around UltraSPARC(TM) chips and pre-configured with business
critical software like Tarantella® Enterprise 3(TM) software,
they're deployable out-of-the-box and help engineers to run complex
design programs effectively and securely from any location, at any
time.
An early adopter of Tadpole's network appliances is Valence
Semiconductor, a global provider of highly integrated system on
silicon solutions for the broadband and mobile communications markets.
The semiconductor firm has already undertaken extensive trials across
its networks with the "Tarantella-by-Tadpole" appliance.
"We have been testing the Tarentella-by-Tadpole appliance for just
over a month with very positive responses from our users," said Mike
Susoev, vice president of information technology at Valence
Semiconductor. "Personal firewalls were deployed in order to create
remote access VPN from a given location. It's proven to remove the
constraints of having to be at home to access data, designs and
applications, while ensuring a secure connection."
One user was David Murillo, Valence Semiconductor's senior systems
administrator. "The Tarantella Application Portal allows remote users
to effectively and securely run business applications from anywhere on
the Internet. The user can be at home, on travel, or at a customer
site and with an SSL-enabled Web Browser and a SecureID token can
access business data efficiently even over slower access connections."
Murillo also points out that no special client system or VPN
equipment is needed with the network appliance and that data is
secured at the business center since no data is transferred. "Even the
engineering design tools work well for remote workers and
telecommuters that require flexible work schedules to meet demanding
timelines."
Tarantella is the leading provider of Internet infrastructure
software that enables secure, managed access to enterprise
applications. Tarantella Enterprise 3 software provides fast access to
all of enterprise server-based applications. It doesn't matter where
you're located or what type of applications you have. All you need is
a Web browser and a network connection. Access is secure and
personalized for each user, department, location or job function. Your
access rights and the control of speed and performance are all managed
centrally.
